I am a freshman at Urbana High School, and I am interested in doing research in a STEM field in the future. I am also interested in robotics; I have been a part of a robotics team since middle school.
What AEOP program(s) did you participate in?
Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS), 2017 – 2022 at Hood College, Frederick, MD.
Words of Advice?
I would definitely recommend future AEOP participants to continue doing AEOP Summer STEM programs because they are an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of STEM topics. As part of the AEOP council, I would love to inspire and encourage more girls to participate in STEM programs!
Best Things about the Program?
I have been attending the GEMS summer camps since 4th grade and some of my favorite programs were CSI and Environmental Science. I loved the hands-on activities they provided!
How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?
The AEOP GEMS BattleBots program was my first introduction to robotics and it inspired me to be part of an FLL robotics team. I am currently a member of my high school FRC team. For the past two years, I have also been conducting introductory FLL robotics workshops in my community for elementary and middle schoolers. As part of the AEOP council, I would love to inspire and encourage more girls to participate in STEM programs!
What are you future hopes and dreams?
I want to work in life science research and help discover new medicines and make them more accessible to people from all walks of life.
Who is your favorites STEM role model? Why?
My favorite STEM role model is my older brother, who has always inspired and motivated me to try new STEM activities!
