Words of Advice?
For someone contemplating enrolling in an AEOP program, I would simply say, “Take a chance.” My AEOP experience was one of the most rewarding experiences of my lifetime, and the wide-range of topics discussed at the National Symposium inspired me to dig deeper into the fields of science and engineering.
Best Things about the Program?
The best aspect of National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) was getting a chance to collaborate and meet other like-minded individuals who also have a strong passion for STEM and science research. Seeing the research that other students from around the country were participating in was a humbling experience, and I enjoyed the opportunity to network with other innovative students.
How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?
Participating in AEOP inspired me to continue to explore the unknowns of science and engineering, as conducting science research fueled my desire for helping others through medicine. Through AEOP alone, my presentation and oral communications skills improved tenfold, which inspired me to continue to ask questions and research challenging scientific topics. Conducting science research at Oklahoma State University also fueled my desire to continue STEM research on the collegiate level.
Who is your favorite STEM role model?
My favorite STEM role model is Manu Prakash from Stanford University because of his groundbreaking research and innovation in global health initiatives.
