Tell us about yourself

Gordon is a high school junior passionate about science and engineering. After participating in Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS) program in 2023, his interest in astronomy and space engineering grew. He volunteers at the Chabot Space and Science Center, mentors as a Galaxy Explorer, and has conducted research with the Oakland Space Academy. Gordon also developed a waste-sorting app, WasteRec, which was recognized in the 2024 Congressional App Challenge.

As a 2024-25 World Science Scholar, Gordon is expanding his math abilities and applying them to the sciences. He aims to create a supportive community within the AEOP Membership Council that fosters a love for STEM, encourages collaboration, and promotes AEOP events in local communities. Gordon has introduced AEOP programs to his school’s Math Association and CS Club, and his friends now participate in AEOP programs, including GEMS.

Gordon looks forward to volunteering at AEOP events like the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) and eCYBERMISSION. In his free time, he enjoys reading, woodworking, stargazing, playing basketball, and camping.
