Description of Research: Over the course of the summer, working with the Army Research Laboratory, the student will explore a machine learning approach for low-bandwidth communication leveraging new developments in computer science and advancements in machine learning to address low bandwidth communication. The goal for the summer will be to build a prototype of an end-to-end generative text-to-speech model based on pre-trained speech models in order to synthesize speech over constrained communications channels. The research will involve replicating conversational intonation to create synthetic speech.

eCYBERMISSION Grants
The eCYBERMISSION Mini-Grant is intended to support teachers/program leaders as they implement eCYBERMISSION with their teams. Educators (formal and informal) of students in grades 6-9 are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to Title 1 schools and to those with underserved/ under-represented populations.
