Words of Advice?
The best advice I have for someone contemplating an AEOP program is to participate! This program will prepare you for college and a career in the STEM field. You will gain knowledge that you cannot receive elsewhere.
Best Things about the Program?
During HSAP, I really enjoyed the opportunity to participate in research. I built a relationship with the peer that I worked with, and I still communicate with her today. I appreciated that my mentor allowed us to work independently. It helped me mature and become even more responsible. I also liked working with LaTeX, a typesetting program that translates scientific equations and wordings into a PDF file. In HSAP I used it to write summaries of our research, and in college I’ll use it in math courses.
How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?
Participating in HSAP caused me to grow more fascinated with STEM. The more I learned, the more eager I became to learn. After this experience, I am absolutely sure that the STEM field is for me. I gained experience that will help me pursue research in college, and I developed communication and learning skills that I will need for my future in the field.
Future Hopes
I want to get a great job and have a nice family. I also want to inspire youth through outreach and service.
