Some advice for those contemplating enrolling in an AEOP program is to take this as an opportunity to improve your scientific research and problem-solving skills. Also, do not be afraid to think outside the box.
Best Things about the Program?
One of the best things about the eCYBERMISSION program is the opportunity to create a solution for a problem in your community. It stimulates a student’s critical thinking skills and allows students to improve their research and problem-solving skills. At the actual competition, the staff at AEOP provide guidance and support while making the event an enjoyable and fun experience. They also host CyberGuide chats, which is a way for students to obtain assistance from the CyberGuides. eCYBERMISSION also provides useful videos and tips from Mr. Matt Hartman, who helps students advance in the competition.
How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?
Participating in the eCYBERMISSION program made me realize how technology can make a positive difference in my community. Specifically, it inspired me to advance my skills in app development and machine learning to design solutions to problems in my area. Also, the program introduced me to the many STEM career paths.
Who is your favorite STEM role model? Why?
My favorite STEM role model is Timothy (“Tim”) Berners-Lee because he was the creator of the World Wide Web.
