My advice for future participants is to take advantage of this opportunity. Ask as many questions as you can about anything. Remember that being in this program is what you make of it.
Best Things about the Program?
The field trips exposed me to something new and educational. My favorite field trip was to a plant center where we learned a lot about how new technical devices help growing plants sense when they need water, how much sun they are getting, and the impact of the weather.
How Participating in AEOP Inspired You to Advance in the STEM Field?
Unite inspired me even more to get involved in STEM. Having the opportunity to visit businesses in STEM fields and working inside a college laboratory was inspiring.
Who is Your Favorite STEM Role Model?
My favorite STEM role model is Dorothy Vaughan, an African American woman who was a mathematician for NASA. I hope one day to work for NASA, and her story inspires me to pursue that goal.
What are Your Future Hopes and Dreams?
My dream is to become a nuclear engineer and start a nonprofit organization that helps and supports low income communities.
